Albert House has 38 en-suite bedrooms and has recently been completely restyled and refurbished to a very high standard. Whilst all the rooms are beautifully decorated, furnished and well equipped, we also encourage personal possessions to help residents feel more at home.
Every room features:
- electric high/low adjustable bed
- two armchairs, chest of drawers, wardrobe, bedside table, over-chair table
- flat-screen colour TV
- easy-access en-suite shower room
- personal commode
- call bell with extended push-button lead
- wifi internet access
- under-bed and door sensors to warn staff if a resident gets out of bed or leaves their room
- automatic door closure if the Fire Alarm sounds
There are 3 lounges where the residents can relax, have chats with the other residents or join in with the arranged daily activities and weekly activities like aromatherapy. The lounges are equipped with large TVs but space has been set aside for those not wishing to watch TV or who wish to play a range of games like table tennis, pool etc.
Two of the lounges have large french windows opening onto courtyard gardens and all have additional skylight windows, making them very light and airy. There is also a dining room which all residents are encouraged to use so that they do move around during the day. A special hairdressing facility has been installed in an area leading off from one of the lounges for the weekly visits of a professional hairdresser.
Our garden courtyards are havens of peace. Especially in the summer they are very beautiful and the pride of our maintenance man, Bob. They are sun traps and have special bouncy floors, similar to the material used in children’s playgrounds. The surface is very safe and should one of our Residents fall they are less likely to incur a hip injury. These surfaces also drain water away very quickly so the gardens can be used immediately after rain.
Not all our residents are able to eat in the dining room but, where possible, we encourage it so the residents can have a chat and a glass of sherry before the meal. In the dining room we also have a special TV which shows each resident’s likes and dislikes, allergies and any special dietary requirements: this is a very important safety support for the staff to make sure that the danger of allergies or choking is avoided.
The management, nurses and carers at Albert House are backed up by a huge array of technology and equipment – from electric beds to hi-tech laundry equipment, from advanced computer systems to hydraulic patient-handling aids.
