Pub Lunch at Catherine’s Inn in Bleadon.  Seven of us enjoyed a fun and delicious lunch including curries, steak, scampi…mmm!

Magical moments for all as butterflies landed on us in the steamy jungle of the Butterfly House. The path presented a challenge for wheelchairs but we managed and everyone enjoyed the wonderful butterflies. Then on to tea and cakes at Heather’s Cafe. This museum is awesome – I can’t praise it highly enough! We had a great time seeing products from the old days plus great displays of farm machinery. All the Residents and staff enjoyed it but the only complaint might be that it takes more than one trip to see it all… it is a

The Secret World Animal Rescue Centre helps wounded and sick animals e.g. badgers. This trip turned out to be a real pleasure for everyone that went. The animals were the stars, including a badger, a fox, owls and, most adorable, an otter cub. Anne insisted she wanted to take one of the kittens home

Lunch at the Tarentella Italian Restaurant  in James St behind the seafront at Weston-super-Mare. The Italian food was great but sadly the Battle of Britain flypast was cancelled due to our poor summer weather… sigh!

The weather was a bit cloudy – a feature of this summer – but it was fun to have a picnic on the grass and watch the children playing as there was a big school event in Clarence Park on the day we went. Ice Creams for desert….mmm!

Visits started by Michelle who kindly brings along every month a wonderful PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog called Bailey. The Residents already love him. Sadly Bailey can’t come again because his owner has stopped all visits, we hope for another PAT dog.

We took many Residents for a long walk along the Weston Pier. Ice Creams and tea for all… mmm!

A special mention for the hard work of the Care Staff for the recent activities they have organised including Cake Decoratings – yes, cup cakes with decorating by the Residents (please see the Activities board for some messy photos)! Pic of Anne’s decorating.

At last we were able to stage the BBQ but sadly it still rained. However the burgers and sausages were enjoyed by the Residents.

That was a fun activity with only Anne L. able to get all 3 wines correct – she won prizes for that with three other Residents getting one or two right and also winning a prize – well done! Wines were a Rioja from Spain, Isla Negra from Chile (one of my favourites) and a

Bus trip to Bristol Zoo, this one was also touch and go on the weather front but it held off mostly and the Residents and staff had a great time seeing the animals and having a giant lunch.  Meerkats were especially popular during their feeding time but the rain did trap us in the butterfly
